I write fantasy and paranormal novels with a strong romantic element. Werewolf Sanctuary is Book 1 in my epic Wolf Maiden Chronicles, a paranormal romance series involving male alpha lycans and their human mates known as wolf maidens. Werewolf Sanctuary is a contemporary that leads to all the other historical paranormal tales in the Wolf Maiden Chronicles. Book 2 in the series, Beast Warrior, takes place during the Viking era. I love to create stories that combine my passion for mythology, romance and werewolf lore.  I have a BS in Zoology and graduate studies in Biology. I have taught high school Biology, Environmental Science and Anatomy/Physiology. My background in science and passion for wildlife biology adds credibility to my writings. I also moonlight as a faculty member of the Grey School of Wizardry, an online school for kids and adults interested in magic and lore. A member of Romance Writers of America, I have also taught workshops on wolf lore and falconry for writer groups. I have volunteered at a wolf sanctuary and am involved in other aspects of wildlife education.    I am a world traveler and love visiting the places where my novels take place. I live in Northern California with my husband and family.

Werewolf Sanctuary - Book 1 of the Wolf Maiden Chronicles

By Eva Gordon

Werewolf Sanctuary, an action packed romance between an alpha male lycan, and his wolf maiden. The first in a series titled, The Wolf Maiden Chronicles, each depicts historical romances between alpha Males and their human wolf maidens.

Since ancient times, the Lupercal Council has kept their people’s werewolf identity a well-guarded secret. Referring to their kind as lycans, they shift into a bear-sized wolf, bearing unique markings reminiscent of Maori or Celtic tattoos. The pack shifts during the full moon and are under the control of their alpha male leader. The alpha
male and alpha female are not bound by the full moon and can shift at will. Lycans can only breed with their kind. The exception are the alpha males, which can only mate with human women known as wolf maidens, who bear the five-toed paw print or mark of the wolf on their left hip.

The story begins with Lupercal society in peril due to an unknown disease infecting their young offspring. The children who do survive the pestilence, shift too early into wolf cubs, lose their distinct markings, and end up becoming normal wolves, unaware of their human consciousness. Normally immune to most known diseases, the Lupercal has few of their own doctors and must seek the help of a human outsider to find the cure.

Wyatt Weylin, alpha male of the Montana pack, and leader of a team of mercenary lycans, flies to a World Wolf Conference in San Francisco, where he hopes to convince leading authority on wolf diseases, veterinarian Dr. Madeline Styles to come to his wolf sanctuary and find a cure. The minute he sees her he feels drawn to her striking good looks. The sensory chemistry is instant. He tries to suppress the feeling, knowing that he is forbidden to fall for a human. Wyatt discovers that the vegetarian animal doctor has the mark of the wolf and he claims her as his life mate. Madeline slowly learns about Wyatt’s true nature and the fact that she has been claimed, and like all lycans, wolf maidens are microchipped to prevent escape. She is told that she has three moons to decide if Wyatt is the right alpha for her, and if not, she must choose another. However, she can never leave their society. Angered and confused she first balks at the idea until she witnesses the entire pact shift, and learns that her own grandmother was a wolf maiden who lost the alpha mate and love of her life. Feeling the strong connection with Wyatt, she decides to pursue the cure to the lycan cub disease. To complicate matters Bisclavaret, Wyatt’s enemy and bad alpha lycan from the Bayou, is determined to make Madeline his wolf maiden, one way or another.

Reviews for Werewolf Sanctuary

Five Tombstone Review!

Wyatt Weylan is the leader of a mercenary team that performs missions deemed impossible by both the US and British governments. He also owns the Shadow of the Moon Sanctuary, which is a thousand acres of land in Montana. Wyatt has been looking for his wolf maiden all his life. When a disease threatens all the young werewolves all over the world, Wyatt travels to San Fransisco to meet up with a doctor that just might hold the answers to his people’s survival.

Dr. Madeline B. Styles is a veterinarian who specializes in wolf diseases. She has just spent three months treating distemper in the wolf population of Ethiopia. On her way home, she receives a dear john email from her fiancé, Mark Tellington, saying that he has fallen in love with someone else. Maddie, upon arriving back in San Fransisco, finds a six month job offer from the mysterious Wyatt Weylan. She decides to take his offer instead of sulking over the breakup and having to move back in with her mother.

Werewolf Sanctuary will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The adversary Bisclavaret is just as compelling as the heroes of the story. A second book, Beast Warrior, is already planned, and I can’t wait for it to be released.

Werewolf Sanctuary by Eva Gordon
Paranormal Romance- May 6th, 2009
4 stars

I typically tend to be more passionate about reading vampire novels when it comes to the supernatural fiction collection.   But I could not help but become intrigued with this shifter book!  It had all the elements that grab your attention.  I found it an exhilarating page turner from the beginning to end.

Werewolf Sanctuary begins with a burst of action that kept me hooked!  The author keeps the reader engrossed by explaining the main character’s (Wyatt Weylyn) origin which was highly fascinating.   At Wyatt’s wolf sanctuary, the wolf cubs have been succumbing to various ailments including death.  Wyatt is on a mission to hopefully cure and resolve this issue.

Maddie is a doctor in the biology of wolves and has a specialty in their diseases as well.   She was a wonderful character.  I felt deeply connected to her since she went through what many single women go through before they find their soul mates.  I particularly was attracted to Maddie’s  down to earth personality and courage handling sudden new changes to her life in ways she never expected to happen.

How do their lives intertwine?  You MUST read it to find out.  This is a guaranteed enjoyable read!   There is a generous amount of romance, action, intrigue and paranormal that will keep you energized and wanting more!

Their union is wrought with great peril in a world where werewolves must battle against their own kind as well as their fierce enemy, the berserker bear men. Reviews and Acclaim for
Beast Warrior: Viking Werewolf

Long ago in Europe, a very special girl was born. At her birth, a seer prophesied that through her, all the Lycan packs would unite, and a great evil would be defeated. She was also destined to be the mate of the greatest Lycan alpha, and theirs would be a love for all times.

Emelisse was a very special girl. Born prematurely, she was the treasured daughter of a powerful Lycan alpha and his beloved wolf maiden. Because of her early birth, she had always been protected, since her heart was weak. As she grew, Emelisse trained with the skilled Lycan healers, learning everything they could teach her. When her father arranged her marriage to an alpha she despised, Emelisse decided that she would run away, and live with the other humans. However, her plans went awry, and after a series of unfortunate events, she found herself captured by the fierce Viking Bearskins, who were known for their terrible cruelty. What would happen to Emelisse? Will she die at the hands of the enemy of her people, or does the goddess Feronia have greater things in store for her?

Sigurd had lived a very hard life. As one of the few Northern Wolfskins, he was the last of his pack. When his parents were killed by bearskins, he and his sister escaped. However, his sister was infected with a horrible disease that caused her to go insane, and murder dozens of people. Devastated by yet another loss, and vowing vengeance on the bears who had killed his parents, Sigurd left the Northland and joined a Viking crew, trying to track down the raiders who killed his family. When he finally found them, he discovered Emelisse, the woman destined to be his. Will Sigurd be able to move past his need for vengeance? Will Emelisse be able to help him save himself?

A riveting back story, an entertaining cast of secondary characters, and a meticulous attention to facts all help to make BEAST WARRIOR: VIKING WEREWOLF another entertaining story by Ms. Gordon. The story is very well written, the romance between Emelisse and Sigurd was sweetly romantic at times, and scorching in intensity at other times. The villains of the story are nasty, and fit very well with the historical context. The mental pictures conjured by the word “Viking” match the description of the bearskins very well. I also enjoyed the magical elements, especially the mythology. BEAST WARRIOR was an excellent second book for Ms Gordon, and I look forward to reading more of her wolf maiden stories. Well done!

White Wolf of Avalon: Werewolf Knight by Eva Gordon

White Wolf of Avalon is book 3 in The Wolf Maiden Chronicles, and takes place during Arthurian times.  There are cameo appearances by well known characters such as King Arthur, Morgan le Fey, and Mordred. The story revolves around the secret society of lycans that reside in ancient Britain.

Bledig, an orphan raised by a childless couple near the magical Isle of Avalon, dreams of someday becoming a knight of the Round Table.  Bledig refuses to become a beast and wants no part in marrying a wolf maiden or in  begetting lycan children. After Bledig helps King Arthur defeat the Saxons at Badon Hill he is knighted and is advised by his close friend Sir Uwain there is a priest that can cure him of his wolfen curse. Bledig heads toward Avalon to tell his great aunt Silvia of his plan. Once cured, he will serve as a knight, marry a courtly lady, and earn a title.

Annora, a Romano Greco wolf maiden, is more interested in intellectual pursuits than romantic ones. She is a scribe and historian who prefers to marry an older alpha lycan who would better understand her need to focus on her writings. As Annora travels up north to meet with her brother and family, they are attacked by Gorlagon’s she-lycan, Trivia, and her pack of warrior lycans.

In the wilderness, Annora and Bledig meet. She is the beautiful woman he has dreamt of nightly while heading to retrieve his brother’s moonstone. He the knight in shining armor she had fantasized about -  brave, handsome, and chivalrous. Their attraction is instantaneous. She is stunned to learn he is a lycan, the white wolf destined to unite all the lycans of Britain. Her mate.

On learning she is a wolf maiden, Bledig hardens his heart. He tells her that after he delivers her to the safety of Avalon he will visit a priest who will cure him of his wolfen curse. She is saddened that he refuses to follow his destiny and that he does not wish to claim her as his.

Danger lurks everywhere. Gorlagon and Gargol have not given up on their hunt to find Annora and the Pict wolfen she released from his dank dungeons. But most of all they wish to use her as a breeder. Intrigue and secrecy abound in King Arthur’s court at Camulod. Mordred, who Arthur is unaware, is his son by his own sister Morgause, plots to rule.  He has become Gorlagon’s secret Lupercii in the hopes of having a lycan army to defeat his father in battle.

Will Bledig reject his true destiny as the prophesized lycan leader of Britain? Can he deny his feelings for the lovely wolf maiden, Annora, who has already captured his heart and soul?

Can Annora survive the lycans who hunt her? Will Bledig finally submit to his lycan nature and forever claim her as his wolf maiden? Will magic save their kind, the fae of Avalon and King Arthur’s Britain?
