THE HOUSE ON THE SHORE BY VANILLA HEART PUBLISHING AUTHOR VICTORIA HOWARD WINNER OF HONORABLE MENTION IN FICTION AT PRESTIGIOUS 2009 LONDON BOOK FESTIVAL

Vanilla Heart Publishing is pleased to announce that The House on the Shore, by Victoria Howard, has been awarded honorable mention in The London Book Festival,
http://www.londonbookfestival.com/, bringing authors to the attention of the international publishing community.

The House on the Shore is a romantic suspense novel set in Scotland. It interweaves the lives of Anna, a scholar who is reaching for her long-buried creative dreams, and Luke, an American artist, who is running from his tumultuous past. One man stands between them and happiness. And survival.

Recently, The House on the Shore was shortlisted for the Joan Hessayon New Writers Award 2009, presented by the Romantic Novelists' Association, the United Kingdom's counterpart to Romance Writers of America.

“The House on the Shore is a sensually suspenseful story filled with non-stop action, romance, and mystery. The facts of Scotland are told with brilliant description that bring the land to life and leave you feeling as if you have stepped out of your world and into the pages. Ms. Howard uses such passion and emotion when telling her story, making the tale flow right along until the last page is turned. With many different characters that will keep you guessing, this novel is the perfect example of how a suspenseful story should be told. …Thrilling until the very end, this book has a who-done-it attitude with such an aching tone of sensuality and love, it will keep you up all night just so you can finish this fantastic tale.” —Danielle. Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance & More

Victoria Howard is available for library, book club, and organization talks, and is a frequent guest at signings and discussions throughout the United Kingdom. She is available for interviews, in person and by telephone. There’s a new bookshelf in town and it’s dedicated to local Rockland authors

The Arts Alliance in Haverstraw hosted an Author Reception on Sunday, January 17, 2010 to kick off its new Rockland Author Series. Featuring a bookshelf of books by local authors, monthly writing workshops, art exhibits by local artists, performing and visual art classes, and other events, the Arts Alliance is a true cultural hub celebrating creativity.

Works by local authors Chelle Cordero, Charmaine Gordon, Janet Lane Walters, Kathy Kubrik, Barbara Werzansky, Donna Kremer, Laura Marie Henion, and Dina Bar-Tov are for sale at the Arts Alliance; a portion of the sales will go towards programs at the center. Participating authors will also conduct monthly writing workshops and other events. Workshops are scheduled the third Thursday each month; check the Arts Alliance calendar for other dates and event descriptions. The first monthly workshop in the series will be Character Development taught by author Chelle Cordero on Thursday, February 18 from 7-to-8 PM.

The Arts Alliance of Haverstraw is a not-for-profit multicultural center for the arts. It was established by “a group of community members and artists with the commitment to celebrate the creativity of all of our people; our mandate is to give sustenance and to share the art of our rich and diverse cultural heritages.” The center is located at 91 Broadway in the Village of Haverstraw, New York in Rockland County.

For more information about the Rockland Author Series and other programs at the Arts Alliance of Haverstraw, contact the Executive Director, Anthony P. Accomando, at (845) 786-0253.
