Rockland County Author Chelle Cordero’s Bartlett’s Rule Featured as August Book of the Month at Prestigious Origin Books, Art and Coffee

Multi-published author, Chelle Cordero, of Rockland County, New York, has been selected as August Book of the Month Author for her novel Bartlett’s Rule by the management team at the prestigious Origin Books, Art and Coffee, located in Nanuet Mall, Suite 1021, 75 West Route 59, Nanuet, New York,
10954.

Bartlett’s Rule, presented by Vanilla Heart Publishing, and available in print, ISBN: 978-0-9796545-3-4 and in large type Ebook formats, and will be published later this year in a large print print edition to serve visually impaired readers and fans.

Bartlett’s Rule
shares the story of Lon and Paige’s love affair; a romance filled with hardship, emotion, danger and triumph. Falling in love was never the challenge; being there for each other, knowing just what to say and making it work is the real test.

When Paige Andrews is given the assignment of courting a famous writer for the publishing company she works for, she meets and entices the sexy, charming and thoroughly dangerous womanizer, Lon Bartlett.

Lon immediately takes a not-so-professional, personal interest in the young woman and pursues her. Lon is thrilled when Paige finally succumbs to his charms only to find that her haunting past sets off a terrifying reaction. Lon learns a heartbreaking reality - Paige is a rape survivor.

Editorial Review:

“A fantastic read -- a love story between two seemingly very different kinds of people. Between all the tribulations that get in the way of their romance, they ultimately triumph. The story is so well crafted and the characters evoke lots of emotion from the reader. The plot takes lots of twists and turns and underscores
the severity of rape crimes and the lasting damage it inflicts upon its victims. I look forward to reading the author's second novel, ‘Forgotten’. Its preview seems to be as captivating as this book was!” (Barbara Moroch, editor, The Journal News)

Origin Books, Art and Coffee is sponsoring Bartlett’s Rule for their well-attended Book Club Discussion Group on Sunday, September 7, 2008 1-3PM, and Ms. Cordero will be available for autographing following.

VHP SIGNS AUTHOR AND ARTIST SARAH NATALIA LEE FOR
SAVING AMY

Seattle, WA, March 14, 2008—Vanilla Heart Publishing is pleased to announce their signing Sarah Natalia Lee for her newest novel, Saving Amy.

Saving Amy, a tale of finding love in a graveyard; love between a beautiful, ageless vampiress and a teenaged girl thrown into her father’s home  - a father she barely remembers – by the untimely death of her mother. As Emma and her sisters try to adjust to their new family life, she searches for love, acceptance, joy, and finds all of these and more. Emma and Amy face many dangers together and must break the grip of Madam Noctis, the vampire who stole Amy’s soul years before.

From Saving Amy:

The park has grown tiring, but it’s still very early and I do not yet want to return to my grave for sleep lest I wake before the sun is down and feel the desperate need to stretch. I sit against the fence surrounding the graveyard, the cold iron bars pressing into my back. Sensations of fear rush throughout me. Even though it has been five years, the idea of my life as an undead still terrifies and pains me. I miss home. I miss Mommy, Daddy, Nathan, and Kelly. I miss all my friends at my school and all my distant relatives. I know they miss me, too. Oh, why did I have to be taken away from all that I held so dear? Why, why, why?

Voices echo behind me. I gasp and try to remain positively frozen, clasping one hand over my mouth. Soon, the voices become coherent, and I strain to hear what is being spoken.

“I’m telling you, Madam, I think that Amy girl is incomplete.”

“And whatever makes you say that, Jason?”

“She’s just not like the rest of us. She’s never visibly stricken with thirst for blood, she never speaks of her feeds, she’s terrified of everything. I’ve also seen her swinging at the park and when we speak to her of drinking blood, she cringes and pushes us aside. It’s like she hates being undead. I think she’s still part human.”

“No vampire, complete or otherwise, can still be ‘part human’, Jason. Now you know I am the one who took Amy and that I never let any of my victims become incomplete unless they are anemic. You know my rules, Jason. And believe me, I am quite familiar with anemic blood. There is no possible way Amy is anemic; her blood is some of the richest I’ve ever tasted.”

VANILLA HEART PUBLISHING CELEBRATES THE PUBLIC RELEASE OF FOREST SONG: FINDING HOME, BY AUTHOR VILA SPIDERHAWK

Seattle, WA, March 3, 2008—Vanilla Heart Publishing is pleased to announce the Public Release of Vila SpiderHawk’s Forest Song: Finding Home, and is hosting the novel’s Book Release Launch Party online at their new, interactive website, with drawings, prizes, excerpts, premier of the book trailer video, and special discounts on autographed copies of Forest Song: Finding Home in their secure shopping bookstore.

Forest Song: Finding Home is the enchanting story of Judy Baumann’s struggle to escape to her true home in the woods and to grow into her power there. A cast of magical characters, including a witch, the witch’s consort, a family of fairies, an ancient oak, and a bevy of animals each help her in her search for ‘home’.

From Forest Song: Finding Home, page 73:

I entered the forest calling his name, and, sure he was teasing, I braced myself for a roaring burst of him from behind a rock or a tree. Nothing happened. I yelled again. There was no response. I screamed, drawing out his name so I had to breathe between the syllables. My voice cracked. A twig snapped. I twirled around with a grin, but Jochen wasn’t there. Every crunch of the leaves, every whoosh of a bird caused me to spin, first with hope and then with fear as the truth of my situation seeped into my mind. I didn’t know what to do. If I stood still the bandits or wolves or bears or child-eating plants would get me. If I moved, Jochen wouldn’t know where I was.”

Vanilla Heart Publishing, of Seattle, Washington, is hosting the online book release launch party for author Vila SpiderHawk and her novel, Forest Song: Finding Home, on Friday, March 7, 2008 from Noon (Pacific Daylight Savings time) until 6 pm. After the tragic deaths of her mother and two younger siblings,  young Grace Harmon becomes responsible for raising her sister Miriam and protecting her from their abusive father, Luther, a zealot preacher with a penchant for speaking in Biblical verse who is on a downward spiral toward insanity.

Luther's insane ravings and increasingly violent behavior force Grace to question and reassess the patriarchal religious beliefs of her childhood. Then tragedy strikes just when Otto's secret is uncovered, unleashing demons that threaten to destroy the entire family. Can Grace find the strength to save them, and in the process find her own redemption?

Redeeming Grace is set on Maryland's eastern shore in the late 1920's.   The book will appeal to lovers of literary fiction who enjoy theological debate and who understand happy endings, in novels as in life, sometimes come at a heavy price.

“Smoky Trudeau has written a book of love...marital love, love of family, love of nature and the land. But that love is threatened by the insane love of an old man for his jealous god. Long-suppressed secrets erupt into nightmares, a tornado strikes, and an unspeakable crime is committed. An unlikely hero saves the day and we see how authentic love does indeed conquer all things.” — Barbara Ardinger, Ph.D., author of Pagan Every Day, Finding New Goddesses , and Quicksilver Moon.

MEDIA RELEASE

VHP SIGNS AUTHOR BRIAN NARANJO FOR HIS FIRST TWO NOVELS, CHILDISH THINGS AND THE TAMALE LIST

Seattle, WA, USA – February 20, 2008

Vanilla Heart Publishing, a small, independent press based in Everett, Washington, is set to publish and distribute two novels written by Brian Naranjo, beginning in April.

The 36-year-old author’s second novel, The Tamale List, will be publicly released April 5, and available shortly thereafter in bookstores and online through normal distribution channels worldwide.

Only a month later, they’ll re-release his inaugural effort, Childish Things. Naranjo originally published Childish Things in May 2006, and said it was well-received by those who read it. However, with almost no distribution and limited marketing, the work was under-represented and not widely promoted.

“This time will be different,” said Kimberlee Williams, Vanilla Heart’s managing editor.

“Brian’s books will be available through all the major book distributors worldwide and widely available online,” she explained. “Plus, our marketing department is targeting book stores all over the United States, including major chains and mom-and-pop outlets. And we’re going to get Brian out there to meet his readers, through book readings, events, and signings.”

Williams added that the quality of Naranjo’s products makes them an ‘easy sell’. “Brian has a unique, straight-forward approach to his writing. His style draws you into the story from Page 1, and you’re soon in the thick of the plot. I fell in love with his finely crafted characters in both books, am we are excited about having them both in our title lineup,” she said.

The Tamale List is a light-hearted but fictional look at a cul-de-sac in Middle America, where for years, resident white families have enjoyed their comfortable, well-established existence. But it all threatens to unravel when a Hispanic family moves into the neighborhood. Through a series of events and a couple of twists and turns, the people come to realize they’re not so different after all, according to Naranjo.

“It’s not exactly social commentary, but I think anyone who’s ever been on either end of the ‘there goes the neighborhood’ line will be able to identify and laugh a little,” he said of The Tamale List, which he finished writing in Jan. 2007.

Childish Things hits much closer to home,” Naranjo continued, “because it is based on my life growing up, and focuses on a young man out of high school, who’s coming to terms with a decision he made to join the Navy. The book starts on this character’s last night before boot camp. He gets together with his favorite cousin, and the two reflect on their childhood. There are a lot of crazy, goofy anecdotes, but the central theme is about living life to its fullest, and never giving up.”

Naranjo joined the U.S. Navy in 1990, and served on active duty for a total of nearly 10 years. Today, he works for the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, Kansas.

For the native Texan, just being a “real” author makes all the difference in the world, from the feeling of satisfaction he gained, to the level of service he’s enjoyed from the publisher. Through Vanilla Heart, Naranjo has worked daily with the company’s entire team, reviewing cover concepts, promotional giveaway items, and a wide range of copy and content editing. And the price is right, he added. “Well, they get paid when my books sell, so it’s a great incentive,” he said with a laugh. “Seriously, Vanilla Heart has been a real breath of fresh air, in every way.”

Naranjo said he’s excited at the opportunity to visit different bookstores and libraries to perform readings and do book signings. “I can’t wait to meet people, total strangers, who’ve read, or are going to read my books,” he said. “That’s when it will all stop feeling like a dream!”

For more information, including announcements about Mr. Naranjo’s books and updates, or to schedule an event, please contact Vanilla Heart Books and Authors or visit Brian Naranjo at http://www.briannaranjo.com.
